We Saw Everything
WE SAW EVERYTHING
This publication is a reimagination of the screenplay Hiroshima Mon Amour into a tabloid format, exploring themes of memory, remembering and forgetting.
The film explores non-linear, unpredictable and involuntary memory in a looping, obsessive dialogue, employing flashbacks to show that the past is present, and the present is past. The traditionally linear time-based tabloid format was chosen to see how it could be used to explore the non-linear nature of memory and to investigate the possibilities that a large format would lend to expression of the screenplay.
The text was used in its entirety, along with images and screenshots from the book and film, and personal photos from Hiroshima. The aim of the publication was to create a visual path of remembering and forgetting, following the characters as they tunnel through the spaces between the present and the past.
My interest in pursuing this project lies in the stories on the margins of what is considered newsworthy and what is left behind. Hiroshima, as screenplay writer Marguerite Duras and filmmaker Alain Resnais explore, is a site of particular interest where stories from the past persist and continue to reveal themselves in the present.
The Snow Melts
Thesis project exploring design and obsolescence. I photographed and illustrated objects that surfaced on Bloor Street, between Ossington and Lansdowne when the snow melted last spring, 2015. Double-sided folding poster, 16"x24" on paper.
A fun personal project I started in February to illustrate my experiences in online dating. Exploring first contact and opening lines. This started on a whim after talking with friends. It was really well-received, and the OK Cucumber Instagram site went viral in mid-late August.

Words on the Street
Using psychogeography as a guiding framework, the goal of the project was to create a fun learning tool that could encourage language students to explore cities and discover words outside the classroom.
This prototype for this app was created as the final product of the project, informed by a site audit, scenarios, a series of wireframes, and usability testing results.
Features include vocabulary geotagging, photo flashcard gallery, audio for pronunciation practice, and a personalized word list/dictionary.
